GRANT RECIPIENTS: THABO WOLFAARDT |
Thabo Wolfaardt earned a BA in Literature and History from New York University and his MFA in Directing at UCLA Film School.
At UCLA, Thabo received the MPAA Award, the Carl David Fellowship, the Mary Pickford Award, and the prestigious Collin Higgins
Screenplay award. He also won Best Documentary at the 2006 UCLA Film Festival for his film SOUTH AFRICA'S NEW APARTHEID.
Thabo's MFA thesis film JOBURG made its festival World Premiere at the 2007 TELLURIDE FILM FESTIVAL.
JOBURG was also named an official selection at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Starz Denver Film Festival, and Santa Fe Film
Festival, and won the DIRECTOR'S SPOTLIGHT AWARD, a prize honoring the UCLA's "Best of 2007", as selected by a Blue Ribbon
Panel of judges headed by Sundance Film Festival Director Geoff Gilmore.
